Tandem & Medtronic Infusion Set Cannula Underpatch

Create a comfortable barrier between your skin and the adhesive on your insulin pump infusion set with this 2.25-inch underpatch. Designed for Tandem and Medtronic infusion sites and other compatible cannulas, it sits on the skin first and the infusion set adhesive is applied over it.

The flexible barrier patch is available in white micro-woven and tan skin-feel materials. It is designed for people who want an extra layer under their infusion set while keeping the cannula and connector area properly aligned.

Compatible Tandem Infusion Sets

  • AutoSoft 90
  • AutoSoft XC
  • TruSteel
  • VariSoft

Compatible Medtronic Infusion Sets

  • MiniMed infusion sets
  • MiniMed Paradigm infusion sets

The center opening is designed to leave room for the infusion set connection point while the surrounding patch provides a barrier beneath the original adhesive.

Underpatch Features

  • 2.25-inch diameter
  • Designed for infusion set and cannula sites
  • Latex-free construction
  • Zinc-free adhesive
  • Hypoallergenic options
  • Flexible, waterproof materials
  • Custom 3-part EZ Peel backing
  • White micro-woven and tan skin-feel options

How to Apply

  1. Clean and completely dry the application area.
  2. Apply the Freedom underpatch directly to the skin using the 3-part backing.
  3. Position the infusion set so the cannula and connector align with the center opening.
  4. Apply the infusion set adhesive over the underpatch and press firmly.
  5. Add an overpatch if additional edge reinforcement is desired.

For best adhesion, allow the patch time to set before bathing, swimming or heavy exercise. A 6–12 hour set time is recommended when practical.

Underpatch vs. Overpatch

An underpatch goes on the skin first, beneath the infusion set adhesive. An overpatch goes over the existing infusion set adhesive to reinforce the outside edges. Some users choose to use both for a layered setup.
