CGM Patch Edge Lifting: Full Overpatch vs Freedom Fix-It Dots

Freedom Fix-It Dots targeted adhesive repair patches for CGM patch edges and pump tubing

A CGM overpatch can look perfect for days and then one small edge starts curling. At that point, many people face a simple question: add another full patch, or reinforce only the problem area?

That is the use case behind Freedom Fix-It Dots™—small adhesive anchors designed for targeted reinforcement rather than covering the entire wearable area again.

When a full overpatch makes sense

A full overpatch is the better starting point when you want broad adhesive support around the sensor from the beginning. It distributes coverage around a larger area and can be especially useful for people who know sweat, water or activity tends to affect the full perimeter.

Our guide on keeping a CGM patch from peeling covers preparation and wear factors in more detail.

When a Fix-It Dot makes sense

If most of the patch is still secure and just a small section is lifting, a targeted dot can reinforce the problem spot without adding a second full layer over everything. That can be useful for a corner, edge or small area that keeps catching on clothing.

Fix-It Dots can also organize pump tubing

Freedom Fix-It Dots are also designed as small adhesive anchors for compatible external pump tubing. The goal is to help secure a section of tubing where you want an additional anchor point. Follow your pump manufacturer's instructions and never place an accessory where it interferes with the infusion site or device function.

Do not keep layering over a failing site

Adhesive repair has limits. If a sensor or infusion site has become displaced, is not functioning normally, or no longer meets the manufacturer's wear requirements, adding more adhesive is not a substitute for following the device maker's replacement instructions.

A simple rule of thumb

Broad problem = consider a full overpatch. Small lifting spot = consider targeted reinforcement. If accidental impact or snagging is the bigger concern, compare a reusable guard or Freedom Band-style armband instead.

As always, choose an accessory that matches your exact CGM or pump and follow the manufacturer's current wear and safety guidance.
