Designed for Omnipod 5, Omnipod Dash and compatible legacy Omnipod Eros pods, the Freedom Underpatch™ sits beneath the compatible tubeless insulin pump pod adhesive to create a physical skin barrier between the original device adhesive and skin.

Also commonly described as an underlay, underlay patch or adhesive barrier, the Omnipod Underpatch is applied first, before the pod adhesive.

How the Omnipod Underpatch Works

1. Clean and completely dry the application area.
2. Apply the Freedom Underpatch™ directly to the skin using the 3-part EZ Peel backing.
3. Position and apply the compatible Omnipod pod over the Underpatch according to the manufacturer's instructions, using the designed cutout for proper placement.
4. For additional adhesive security, add a compatible Omnipod Overpatch™ around the pod.
5. For additional physical protection, pair the setup with a compatible reusable Omnipod Freedom Guard™ or Freedom Band® system.

Before using a new adhesive product beneath a device, consider testing the selected patch material on a small area of skin first. Individual skin responses to adhesives can vary.

Underpatch vs. Overpatch for Omnipod

An Underpatch goes on the skin first beneath the compatible Omnipod adhesive and serves as a physical skin barrier. An Overpatch, sometimes called an overlay patch, goes over and around the existing pod adhesive to provide supplemental adhesive coverage from above. The two products serve different purposes and can be combined when appropriate.
