How to Wear & Adjust Your Freedom Band™
The Freedom Band™ is designed to provide comfortable, adjustable protection for your CGM or insulin pump during everyday activities, sleep, exercise and more.
When worn over a compatible CGM, the Freedom Band™ can also help reduce direct pressure on the sensor that may contribute to compression lows, particularly while sleeping.
1. Warm Up & Stretch the Band Before Wearing
Before application, gently pull and stretch the Freedom Band™ a few times.
This helps warm up the fabric and elastic so the band can flex naturally and comfortably around your arm.
Give the band several gentle stretches before putting it on. Do not overstretch or pull excessively.
2. Position Your Freedom Band™
Place the Freedom Band™ over your CGM, insulin pump or compatible wearable device.
Center the protective portion of the Freedom Band™ over your device.
3. Choose One or Two Bands
Your Freedom Band™ includes two adjustable bands.
For most wear locations, a single band may provide the length you need. If additional length is required, the two supplied bands can be connected together. Here is how.
4. Change Bands or Connect Them for Additional Length
The arms on the Freedom Case™ are designed to allow the bands to easily slide on and off. This makes it simple to change bands or configure your Freedom Band™ for your desired length.
To change a band, simply slide the band off the arm of the Freedom Case™ and slide your desired band back onto the arm.
If you need additional length, use the included connecting loop to join the two supplied bands together. The connecting loop is only needed when connecting both bands for a larger overall band length.
This allows you to:
- Use a single band when less length is needed.
- Quickly slide bands on or off the Freedom Case™.
- Connect both supplied bands when additional length is needed.
- Easily change your band configuration as your preferred fit or wear location changes.
Make sure the band lies flat and is not twisted before wearing.
5. Adjust for the Right Fit
Adjust the Freedom Band™ until it remains comfortably positioned over your device.
The band should be secure, but not tight. Only enough tension is needed to keep the Freedom Band™ in position.
A properly adjusted Freedom Band™ should:
- Stay in position during normal movement.
- Remain centered over your device.
- Lie flat and comfortably against your skin.
- Feel secure without pinching or excessive pressure.
- Help protect your device from bumps, snags and accidental contact.
Do not overtighten the Freedom Band™.
Helping Protect Against Compression Lows
Direct pressure against a CGM sensor, particularly while sleeping or lying on the sensor, can sometimes contribute to an artificially low CGM reading commonly known as a compression low.
The Freedom Band™ is designed to provide a protective barrier around compatible CGM sensors, helping reduce direct pressure on the sensor and helping protect against compression lows.
For nighttime wear, make sure your Freedom Band™ is comfortably positioned and not overtightened.
Quick Fit Check
After adjusting your Freedom Band™, move your arm normally and check its position.
Band moves or slides? Shorten the band slightly.
Band feels too tight? Increase the band length.
Need more length? Use the included connecting loop to connect the second supplied band.
Want to change bands? Slide the current band off the arms of the Freedom Case™ and slide your desired band into place.
Once you've found your preferred fit, your adjustment can remain in place for easier use the next time you wear your Freedom Band™.
Important
Freedom Band™ is a protective accessory and does not replace your device manufacturer's application, wear or safety instructions.
If a CGM reading does not match how you feel or you suspect a compression-related reading, follow your CGM manufacturer's instructions for confirming glucose levels and making treatment decisions.
