Sleep can be surprisingly demanding on a CGM. Rolling over, blankets, pajamas and bedding can repeatedly brush the sensor and adhesive throughout the night. For some users, added physical protection provides peace of mind against accidental snagging.
Why nighttime snags happen
A CGM sits above the skin, so its edges can encounter fabric as you move. Placement, sleep position and clothing all affect how often that happens. Always use an approved sensor placement and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Patch, guard or band?
An overpatch can provide additional adhesive coverage. A guard or cover can add physical protection around the wearable. A reusable armband may be useful when you want removable protection for certain activities or times of day. Our armband vs overpatch vs guard guide explains the differences.
Don't overtighten
Any reusable band should be comfortably secure, not excessively tight. Protection accessories should not interfere with the device or its required placement.
