Dexcom G6 Manufacturing Has Ended: Moving to G7 or G7 15 Day + What Changes With Protection

Dexcom G6 has been part of diabetes care for years, but the product is now entering its transition period. Dexcom states that it stopped manufacturing the G6 on July 1, 2026. Remaining inventory may still be available through some pharmacies or distributors, but Dexcom says future availability is not guaranteed.

For people currently using G6, the medical decision about moving to Dexcom G7 or G7 15 Day belongs with your healthcare provider. From an accessory standpoint, however, there is one important rule: do not assume your G6 case, guard or fitted accessory will fit a G7-family sensor.

G7 and G7 15 Day are different from G6

Dexcom currently lists the standard G7 for ages 2 and older, while G7 15 Day is currently indicated for adults ages 18 and older. That distinction matters when discussing a transition, especially for families with children using CGM technology.

Do not throw away useful G6 accessories too early

If you are still actively using G6 from remaining supply, keep accessories that fit your current device until your transition is complete. Once you move to a new sensor platform, check the accessory listing for exact compatibility before reusing a fitted case or guard.
