A Barrier Between Skin and Device Adhesive
The Freedom Underpatch is applied directly to clean, dry skin before your compatible CGM, pump or infusion cannula. It creates a protective barrier beneath the device adhesive.
A compatible Freedom Guard or overpatch is optional, but highly recommended for added device protection and help securing the complete application.

An Underpatch creates the skin barrier. A compatible Freedom Guard or overpatch is optional, but recommended because it helps protect the device and helps keep the full application secured during normal daily activity.

How to Apply Your Freedom Underpatch
Prepare the Skin
Follow your device manufacturer’s site-selection and skin-preparation directions. Clean the area thoroughly and allow it to become completely dry.
Apply the Freedom Underpatch
Remove the release liner without touching the adhesive more than necessary. Position the Freedom Underpatch directly on the prepared skin and smooth it from the center outward.
Activate the Adhesive
Press firmly across the full patch. Run your finger around the adhesive area approximately 10 times, paying special attention to every edge and corner.
Apply Your Device
Apply your CGM, pump or infusion cannula directly over the Freedom Underpatch according to the device manufacturer’s instructions. Do not allow the Underpatch to interfere with insertion or normal device operation.
Optional: Add a Freedom Guard or Overpatch
For added protection, we recommend finishing with a compatible Freedom Guard or overpatch. This optional layer helps protect the device and helps secure the complete setup during everyday activity.
Allow the Adhesive to Bond
Wait 4–6 hours before bathing, swimming, showering, exercising or other activities involving moisture or heavy sweating.
Quick Application Checklist
- Skin is clean, completely dry and product-free.
- The Underpatch is flat with no lifted edges.
- The adhesive was pressed approximately 10 times.
- The device was applied according to its manufacturer’s directions.
- Optional but recommended: a compatible Freedom Guard or overpatch was added.
- The full application has 4–6 hours to bond before moisture or strenuous activity.

The Freedom Underpatch is an accessory and does not replace your device manufacturer’s adhesive, application, wear or safety instructions. Remove the product and discontinue use if redness, itching, irritation or discomfort occurs. Contact an appropriate healthcare professional if a reaction is severe or persistent.
