FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors are small, but active daily life can still challenge the sensor's adhesive. Clothing, towels, workouts, sweat and accidental contact can all put stress on the edges over a wear period.
When does an overpatch make sense?
A compatible overpatch adds adhesive coverage around the sensor. It is most useful when the problem is edge lifting or when you want additional retention during active wear. Make sure any patch is designed for the specific Libre model and does not interfere with intended sensor operation.
Application starts with the skin
Follow Abbott's current insertion and site-preparation instructions for your exact sensor. Apply accessories only after the skin is prepared as directed and is completely dry. Oils and lotions in the adhesive area can reduce how well many pressure-sensitive adhesives bond.
Workouts, sweat and water
For active users, repeated motion and moisture can stress adhesive edges. A smooth, wrinkle-free overpatch application helps reduce exposed edges that can catch on clothing or towels. Follow Abbott's current water-use instructions for the sensor itself.
When you need more than adhesive
If your main concern is bumping or snagging the sensor rather than adhesive lift, a compatible protective guard or reusable band may be a better fitβor may complement an overpatch when the products are designed to work together.
