Decorating for Halloween With Diabetes: Make Your CGM or Pump Part of the Costume With Glow Accessories

Freedom Guard from the Bands for Diabetics Halloween Glow Shop

Halloween is the one time of year when almost everything gets decorated—the porch, the candy bowl, the costume, the trick-or-treat bag and even the dog. If you wear a CGM or insulin pump, your diabetes gear can be part of the look too.

Turn your wearable into part of the costume

Instead of trying to hide every piece of diabetes equipment, coordinate around it. A bright or glow-in-the-dark Freedom Band or Guard can work with costumes built around neon, ghosts, monsters, aliens, skeletons, superheroes or anything designed to stand out after dark.

Browse the real products and glow color options in our Halloween Glow Shop. The collection includes Freedom Band and Guard options for supported devices such as Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, MiniMed Instinct and Omnipod.

Decorate the whole setup

  • Match the costume colors. Build orange, green, purple, black or glow accents around the wearable instead of treating it like something that has to be hidden.
  • Carry the theme into your trick-or-treat bag. Reflective tape, glow sticks and battery-powered decorations can make the bag part of the same look.
  • Create a glow station at home. Put your extra bands, guards and diabetes supply pouch near the candy area with Halloween lights or decorations so everything you need is easy to find before heading out.
  • Coordinate siblings or family costumes. A glow accessory can become one repeated color across an entire family theme.

Our Halloween Glow products

The Dexcom G7, G7 15 Day & Stelo Freedom Band, Dexcom G7 Freedom Guard, FreeStyle Libre 3, 3 Plus & Duo Freedom Band, Libre Freedom Flex Shield, MiniMed Instinct Freedom Flex Shield and selected Omnipod guards are all represented in the Halloween Glow Shop. Available colors and variants can change, so use the collection page to see the current glow lineup.

Costume planning still comes first

Do not cover a wearable with costume glue, paint, makeup or decorative materials that interfere with the device, adhesive or required access. Avoid tight costume pieces, straps or props that repeatedly catch the sensor, pump or tubing. Our CGM snag guide explains common trouble spots such as clothing, towels and straps.

Halloween with diabetes can still be creative, loud and fun. Decorate the house—but do not forget that your gear can join the theme too.
